Immune Boosting Tips
FOOD Load up on food and spices with antiviral and immune-supportive properties, including raw garlic, coconut oil, oregano, ginger, kimchi, fermented foods, walnut, pomegranate, green tea, apple cider vinegar, and mushrooms (shiitake, reishi, cordyceps, and turkey tail)
Eat a colorful plate loaded with fruits and veggies to get a variety of antioxidants
VITALITY SMOOTHIE RECIPE Although it is recommended to avoid cold foods, I do feel this vitality smoothie is an exception to the rule. Here is the recipe
AVOID JUNK FOOD AND ALCOHOL.
MOVE. DANCE. BREATH. Get fresh air and moderate exercise daily. Moderate exercise can boost the production of macrophages, an important white blood cell/immune cell that assists with the breakdown of bacteria and viruses.
SKIN BRUSHING - AFTER your shower. EVERYDAY. Click here to learn how to skin brush properly. It is crucial to do this AFTER your shower to avoid putting viral particles into the air. I do this every day to maintain my immune system.
NASAL IRRIGATION with a neti pot or xylitol nasal spray 1-2x daily. Nasal irrigation may wash away viral particles before they can take hold. POTENTIAL EXPOSURE If you feel you've been exposed. Inhale hot steam with oregano and thyme (fresh or dried) three to five times a day. Dump the water, clean the pot through the dishwasher. As an added measure you could wipe the surface of the pot down with rubbing alcohol.
HYDRATION Stay well hydrated- water, coconut water, herbal teas, and bone broth. A simple tea is lemon, ginger, and honey.
SLEEP Ensure you get adequate sleep-increasing sleep can increase white blood cell production, and loss of sleep, even just a few hours per night, can increase inflammation in the body and decrease immune response.
